GLENN HUGHES: New Album 'Will Have Most Variety Of My Musical Styles'

Legendary vocalist/bassist Glenn Hughes (DEEP PURPLE, BLACK SABBATH) has posted the following message on his official web site:

"I just wanted to let you all know that we are really hard at work up at Chad's [Smith; drummer/producer; RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS] house in the Hollywood Hills recording the new [Glenn Hughes solo] album.

"As you know, I always get really involved in making my music and you may have heard me say this before, but this is without a doubt my finest hour. I have worked really hard and put in a lot of extra time to ensure that the songs are strong. Chad is really a great producer and he is working me to the bone. We wrote a new song on Saturday in the studio that is possibly one of the best songs I've ever written.

"The album will be finished at the end of the month and we will mix the first week of March. I can tell you this: the album will have the most variety of my musical styles as it is where I am in my life. It is honest, and I believe I will push the boat further.

"I hope you all enjoy the ride."

As previously reported, Hughes is recording the new album with the aid of Smith and RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS guitarist John Frusciante. Songtitles set to appear on the CD include "Oil and Water", "Frail", "Black Light", "Stepping On" and "The Valiant Denial". Also playing on the set will be guitarist J.J. Marsh, who has appeared on Hughes' last several solo releases.
